a modest tea party

it's been well over a year since i've drawn maxwell, so here he is, having tea with his lady love, ophelia. FACT: this is only the second time i've tried drawing his face, and the first time i've put colour to it, and i'm quite pleased with the result c: ...i could have tried harder with ophelia, though, she's a bit stiff for my liking, but i do like her face. no worries, i can always draw them again!

so, yes. maxwell was attacked by his father's hunting dogs when he was a wee thing, which explains the scars and the badly damaged vocal chords; he normally hides behind a custom made gas mask to prevent people seeing his face. his father raised him to believe that he is frightfully disfigured (and this preceded the dog attack). maxwell never removes the mask in anyone's presence, unless you are the family doctor, until he marries ophelia. and even then it's difficult to break the habit. maxwell isn't an eccentric; he was just... er, raised the wrong way.
